FNHL Presents: White water canoeing down the rivers of Indigenous Literature!?!? A Talk by Drew Hayden Taylor

On March 5, 2026, the First Nations House of Learning presented “White water canoeing down the rivers of Indigenous Literature!?!?,” an entertaining talk by acclaimed Indigenous writer and humourist Drew Hayden Taylor, who took the audience on a journey covering his wide-ranging career.

About the Speaker

Drew Hayden Taylor

Author, Playwright, Storyteller

Drew Hayden Taylor is an award-winning playwright, journalist, novelist, and filmmaker. Born and raised on the Curve Lake First Nation, he has done everything from performing stand up comedy at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC to serving as Artistic Director for Canada’s leading Indigenous theatre company, Native Earth Performing Arts. He is the proud recipient of three Doctorates (Hon.), and author of 36 books, with the 37th expected out next month. In his work, theatre, humour, First Nations philosophy, literature, and identity travel hand in hand.
