On Saturday, November 30th, the First Nations House of Learning hosted a graduation celebration to honour Indigenous graduates from the Fall Class of 2024.

Longhouse Ceremonial Door

The event, held at the First Nations Longhouse, saw 38 participating Indigenous students, out of 97 who graduated from UBCV this fall, called into Sty-Wet-Tan Great Hall through the ceremonial door.

As each entered, they were ceremoniously transformed from student to graduate in front of families, friends, and supporters who witnessed and celebrated this momentous occasion.

Afterward, each graduate was stood up and recognized for completing their academic program and given the opportunity to thank their supporters.

Like previous events, the celebration was streamed live for the benefit of family, friends and supporters who were unable to attend.
