On Saturday, May 24th, the First Nations House of Learning hosted a graduation celebration to honour Indigenous graduates from the Spring Class of 2025.
Longhouse Ceremonial Door
The event, held at the First Nations Longhouse, saw 70 participating Indigenous students, out of 211 overall who graduated at UBCV this spring, called into Sty-Wet-Tan Great Hall through the ceremonial door – a record number.
As each entered, they were ceremoniously transformed from student to graduate in front of families, friends, and supporters who witnessed and celebrated this momentous occasion.
Afterward, each graduate was stood up and recognized for completing their academic program and given the opportunity to thank their supporters.
Like previous events, the celebration was streamed live for the benefit of family, friends and supporters who were unable to attend.
