About the Fair
The Indigenous Career Fair is not just a recruitment event; rather, it’s an opportunity for employers to start potentially lasting relationships with Indigenous students and pending graduates and demonstrate their commitment to inclusivity, equity, and partnership. While we have specific criteria to help us with selecting participating employers, our overarching goal is to welcome organizations that show genuine commitment and effort in fostering the talents and aspirations of Indigenous people and their communities. Even if your organization does not meet some or all of the criteria, we still strongly encourage your organization to apply to participate.
What We Look for in Participating Employers
To create a fair that reflects our goals, we prioritize the following criteria in selecting employers:
- Indigenous organizations and other organizations with a history of working with Indigenous communities.
- A commitment to working in a good way with Indigenous people, demonstrated through respectful and reciprocal relations with Indigenous employees, clients, or communities.
- Assigning an Indigenous employee to staff their booth at the fair, which will allow Indigenous job seekers to connect with and learn from Indigenous professionals in the organization.
- Opportunities for Indigenous people, including programs for students and new graduates such as co-op placements, internships, summer jobs, and entry-level roles.
- Diversity of industries, which will expose attendees to a broad range of sectors and related job opportunities.
