The UBC community is invited to the third annual Indigenous Holiday Craft Fair, which provides First Nations, Métis, and Inuit art and artisans, many of them students, an opportunity to sell their handmade works, which include original pieces, small leather goods, beaded jewelry and accessories, and other exciting wares.

Recurring Weekly Events
Indigenous students, faculty, and staff are invited to join drop-in yoga and breath work classes led by Dr. Rosalin Miles, Research Associate, Indigenous Studies, School of Kinesiology. Each session offers a wonderful opportunity to escape academic pressures and find relaxation through yoga and breath work exercises. Yoga mats and blocks will be provided to participants who need them.

Indigenous students at any level who have formally self-identified to UBC as First Nations, Métis, or Inuit can access the šxʷta:təχʷəm student space, located in the west wing of the Longhouse. To gain entry, simply tap your UBC card at the south side entrance. There, you will be greeted by šxʷta:təχʷəm advisors who are ready to host and welcome you with a range of events and activities. Get into the spooky spirit and join šxʷta:təχʷəm advisor Emma from 2–4pm (right after the weekly Indigenous Student Lunch) for a cozy Halloween movie screening of the 1993 film The Nightmare Before Christmas. This is a perfect chance to unwind, connect, and celebrate the season in a welcoming space. Popcorn, snacks, and pop will be served. Costumes are optional!
Looking for some final touches to complete your Halloween fit? Bring your costume ideas to šxʷta:təχʷəm from 2:30–4:30pm and get professional face painting by šxʷta:təχʷəm advisor Jess. Trick-or-treating will also be available, so drop by and celebrate the Halloween spirit!
Recurring Weekly Events
Join šxʷta:təχʷəm advisors Emily and Jess from on Fridays, 2:30–4:30pm for a weekly beading circle, where you can explore and celebrate Indigenous artistry while connecting with peers. Share and learn traditional beading techniques and stories while engaging in meaningful cultural exchange. Whether you want to learn flat stitch or fringe, all skills levels are welcome. Beading materials will be provided.
Join šxʷta:təχʷəm advisors Jaz and Gonii from on Fridays, 4:30–6pm for a weekly drum circle! Indigenous students are invited to bring their drums, rattles, songs, and stories—whatever form of expression speaks to you. First-time learners are encouraged to join as well.
