The UBC community is invited to the second annual Indigenous Holiday Craft Fair, which celebrates Indigenous art and craftspersonship. Indigenous students, faculty, staff, and community members will be displaying and selling their art and handmade crafts, which include original art pieces, small leather goods, beaded jewelry and accessories, and other exciting wares. Come by the Longhouse and support Indigenous artists and makers!

FNHL hosts recurring events and activities throughout 2024W, including:
Drop-in yoga classes for Indigenous students, faculty, and staff are available in the Longhouse's Sty-Wet-Tan Great Hall, instructed by Dr. Rosalin Miles. Made possible through the Healthy Workplace Initiatives Fund, several classes are offered from 12–1pm throughout the first term of 2024W. Classes feature Yin and Hatha yoga, focusing on breath work, meditation, mindfulness, and gentle stretches. Participants are encouraged to bring their own yoga mat. However, mats and blocks will be provided to those who need them.

Indigenous students at any level who have formally self-identified to UBC as First Nations, Métis, or Inuit can access the šxʷta:təχʷəm student space, located in the west wing of the Longhouse, anytime during regular hours: Mon–Thu, 9:30am–7pm; Fri, 9:30am–6pm.
To gain entry, simply tap your UBC card at the south side entrance. There, you will be greeted by šxʷta:təχʷəm advisors who are ready to host and welcome you with a range of events and activities. This month’s offerings include:
Join the UBC Vaccine Literacy Club and šxʷta:təχʷəm advisors Hannah and Jessica from 3:30–5:30pm to enjoy snacks, make calming salves, learn more about COVID-19 herd immunity, and get involved in UBC’s Science community!
Join šxʷta:təχʷəm advisor Josiah from 4–7pm to design and paint yellow cedar paddles, which can be used as keychains, necklaces, or however you choose to utilize your designs. Limited supplies will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis and food will be served. Come by šxʷta:təχʷəm as the weather cools and enjoy each other's company in a cozy setting!
Take a break from the stress of finals and holiday prep! Join šxʷta:təχʷəm advisor Jessica from 3–6pm for a Self-care Spa Day—a relaxing event designed to explore skincare and facial massages while you revitalize and unwind. Learn simple techniques to rejuvenate your skin and leave feeling calm and relaxed. For this Monthly Baking Club session, participants will make sugar cookies and ginger cookies. Whether you’re a baking pro or just a beginner, all skill levels are welcome to create and connect with fellow students over delicious treats and good company.
Join šxʷta:təχʷəm advisor Myah from 1:30–4pm for a mini moccasin session! All levels of experience are welcome to participate by learning how to make mini moccasins while connecting with peers in the student space. Please note that registration and availability for the full duration of the session are required.

Share and learn traditional beading techniques and stories while engaging in meaningful cultural exchange. All skills levels are welcome and materials will be provided.
