Getting Involved

Whether you are interested in campus athletics, advocacy, volunteer opportunities, student government, academic groups or a whole range of other programs, there is probably a way for you to get involved at UBC. And if there’s not, there are all kinds of resources available to students who would like to start their own clubs or associations! Below are some of the places you might look to get involved on campus.

UBC Peer Programs

UBC Peer Programs provide exceptional peer-to-peer support to the greater UBC campus community to enhance student life and learning through meaningful opportunities, and for students to engage in experiential learning and connect their experiences within Peer Programs to future academic and career aspirations. UBC Peer Programs leverages student leadership to support the greater campus community by supporting the personal, academic and professional growth of all students.

Indigenous Student Society

The purpose of the Indigenous Student Society (ISS), formerly the AMS Indigenous Committee, is to enrich the academic, professional, cultural, spiritual, and social needs of Indigenous students. The ISS provides academic support by facilitating access to academic resources and advocating for educational policies that align with the needs of Indigenous students, supports students’ human and social needs through the organization and advocacy of social initiatives and support services, and ensures student representation in boards, councils, committees, and elected roles connected to the Alma Mater Society (AMS) and the University. All undergraduate and graduate students registered at UBC during the academic year who identify as Indigenous are members of the ISS.
