Welcome to šxʷta:təχʷəm – formerly Indigenous Student Collegium – a space designed and designated for Indigenous students.
If you are a First Nations, Métis, or Inuit student at any level at UBC Vancouver and are seeking a supportive and enriching community, then you are invited to šxʷta:təχʷəm (hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓: home away from home), a student-only space located at the Longhouse.
šxʷta:təχʷəm (shah-tah ta-quum) is a place where you can connect, grow, and thrive.
What is šxʷta:təχʷəm?
šxʷta:təχʷəm is designed to offer Indigenous students a welcoming environment to gather, build connections, and access a variety of resources. So, whether you are a first-year student or in your upper years, this space is your home away from home.
What to expect

Participate in regular small group gatherings to meet fellow Indigenous students, form friendships, and engage in cultural and social events. These gatherings are a great way to connect with peers who share similar experiences.
Support from peers
Benefit from the guidance and support of upper-year Indigenous student leaders. From academic advice to personal well-being tips, they offer valuable insights into university life, helping you to navigate your university journey with confidence.
